“I met Yaisha Vargas when I arrived to Puerto Rico in the decade of 2000, as delegate of the EFE International Spanish News Agency, Caribbean Bureau. The office was located in San Juan, and we had an enthusiastic team of journalists who worked for the local and international services. The work volume was always high, and we had little opportunities to breathe. Luckily, our team was excellent and worked tirelessly.
Yaisha worked with authentic enthusiasm and delivered high quality articles, elaborated and well written. Besides writing about government, political, financial issues and court cases, she usually found stories of human interest that were published prominently.
I always considered her to be very sociable and I remember she would maintain her calmness and humor even under stressful circumstances.
The day previous to my departure to Spain, after spending three years in Puerto Rico, Yaisha visited my home to say goodbye. I saw her again during a visit to Puerto Rico, and she had already made the decision to radically change her life. She traveled to India and came back to America. I have followed the chronicles she narrates with excellence, and in various opportunities I have encouraged her to compile a book. I think it would be a volume about her experiences, her quest to wholeness, personal growth, and a resource for help for many people.

“Conocí a Yaisha Vargas cuando llegué a Puerto Rico a comienzos de siglo como delegada de la Agencia de Noticias EFE para el Caribe. La delegación tenía su sede en la Isla y la oficina contaba entonces con un nutrido grupo de periodistas que elaboraban noticias tanto para el Servicio Local de la Agencia como para el Internacional, por lo que el volumen de trabajo era siempre muy alto y la actividad rara veces daba un respiro. Por fortuna, el equipo de la delegación era excelente e incansable.
Yaisha trabajaba con auténtico entusiasmo y escribía notas de una gran calidad, muy bien redactadas y elaboradas. Además de la información política, económica, de tribunales, etc. que le correspondiera, encontraba a menudo temas de interés humano que se publicaban luego en lugares destacados en la prensa.
Siempre la consideré una persona muy sociable y recuerdo que en la oficina mantenía el buen humor y la calma incluso en los momentos de más estrés.
El día antes de mi regreso a España después de casi tres años en Puerto Rico, Yaisha acudió a mi casa para despedirse. Volví a verla unos años más tarde, durante una visita que hice a Puerto Rico, cuando, me parece, ya tenía muy claro el deseo de dar un giro radical a su vida.
Vinieron después sus años en la India y su posterior regreso a América. Paso a paso he ido siguiendo su trayectoria a través de sus excelentes escritos y varias veces la he animado a que los compile en un libro que sería, además de un texto de vivencias, un camino de búsqueda, de crecimiento personal y de ayuda para muchas personas.
